bbrian017 0 Posted May 15, 2012 My snail wa just floating, I'm not sure why, he seems very healthy I think it's a air bubble. I take the smail down and add the smail under the pump, the smail trys to "snail" away and loses tracked and s back to the top lol. I just put the snail under the tank we got a nice show!
tithra 4,917 Posted May 15, 2012 Sometimes they float It's normal, they trap air in their shell. Mine used to hang out at the top floating around for a couple days at a time sometimes. I remember reading somewhere that in the 'wild' snails would do this if they wanted to go somewhere else, just put some air in their shell, close up and let the current take them down stream. Too bad they won't get far in an aquarium lol.
bbrian017 0 Posted May 15, 2012 (edited) Yeah I heard that too it's sad the snail wants to move out Do you know what that thing is the snail was sticking out? Edited May 15, 2012 by bbrian017
tithra 4,917 Posted May 15, 2012 The thing sticking out is a little air siphon, they use it to breath/fill their lung with air You should check out applesnail.net, they have great info on caring for apple snails.
