mark 0 Posted March 5, 2004 my fish george has red streaks in his tail fin... it's a red white oranda and water parameters i believe are okay(i don't have a test kit, but recent lfs test was good). i know i've heard of this b4, but i don't remember what causes it, or what it is. a reminder or a link to a previous inquiry on this topic would be appreciated :glup
JessicaandMarshall 2 Posted March 5, 2004 Noramally ammonia/nitrite causes it. Try doing a water change right away, about 30% and see if that helps. You could also add some aquarium salt. I would get your water tested right away, and if you have any ammonia or nitrite in the water, keep the water changes up daily. Jessica
fi5hkiller 1 Posted March 5, 2004 PH also might be a cause of such condition.. Red blood streak as sign of stress due to lousy water condition.. You need to control feeding or change water frequently... Best is to buy some test kit, and identify what's the cause.. May it be ammonia or nitrIte or nitrAte or PH... Learn the water condition and form a water maintenance pattern that is best for your fish.. You can't follow exactly the pattern of other breeders as each country has different water PH and evevery owner maintain a different diet for their fish...
