Anyone feed their goldfish corn?

Recommended Posts

I have a lot of frozen kernel corn in my freezer and I was wondering if this would be a good substitute for peas?

I don't think so,corn is notoriously un nutritious I think, hence why it goes straight through us ;) lol

I would have to agree here... Although I don't know for sure it seems like a bad idea. Not only is corn not really nutritious, it's very high in sugar (corn syrup is mad from corn), so I would suggest just getting some peas :)

I don't think it's not nutritious, but it contains very much starch and sugar, which can cause floating issues and unhealthy weight gain.

Agreed! Corn is not healthy for us, either! :)

Mazuri makes a plant mix, and they specifically noted that it is without corn!

Soy Beans are a good alternative to peas seeing as they are high in protein and fiber and low in sugar if you are looking for alternatives to peas.

Eric,

If you are just looking for other things to feed your fish to give them variety, another good thing to give them is cooked rice. Just a couple kernels per fish, and not often but as an occasional snack :)
