Regular Member Mr.B Posted March 15, 2012 Author Regular Member Share Posted March 15, 2012 So, I was waiting to update in hopes that this post would be a good one, but I dunno. Her bottom sitting seems to be getting better. She doesn't do it very often or for very long. Up until today she didn't have any dots in her fins. I went back to changing the water twice a week, and I have been adding an airstone for an hour to each bucket of water, and it brings the PH up to just about exactly what is in the tank. She has white dots on her tail as well. I was unable to take pictures of them, but they look exactly like the dots on Fangs fish's fins. They are white, and kinda look like scar tissue. Lastly, and my biggest concern for the day, is that when I put her in the bowl for pictures, she started turning on her side. She did this six or seven times. I noticed her doing this in the tank the other day. She isn't floating when she does it. Appitite and activity is normal. All readings are normal. Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 5, PH 7.6.
Regular Member Mr.B Posted March 15, 2012 Author Regular Member Share Posted March 15, 2012 Here is one that shows the veins a bit better. I will say that they look a little improved.
Regular Member Mr.B Posted March 15, 2012 Author Regular Member Share Posted March 15, 2012 Crap, one more thing. She is still having floaty/bubble filled poo. Not all of it, but there is some every day.
Regular Member dnalex Posted March 15, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted March 15, 2012 Do you fast or feed peas/spinach, Dan? Also, when did you last treat for flukes?

May I ask what exactly you are referring to (with my fish)? The bacterial dots or Orange Fishie I posted like two years ago, the weird "thick slimecoat" spots that Blacky Fishie gets every once in a while, or the issue Kupo had recently? Regular Member Mr.B Posted March 15, 2012 Author Regular Member Share Posted March 15, 2012 Do you fast or feed peas/spinach, Dan? Also, when did you last treat for flukes?I fast on wednesday. I usually feed peas on thursday in the mornings, and then once or twice a week. I feed spinach upon occasion. I treated for flukes in November, I think.
Regular Member number20121 Posted March 15, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted March 15, 2012 Gotcha. That wasn't ich on Kupo, but just weird spots caused by I don't know. Something had upset all the fish tanks in the house, so I believed it was a water source related issue. I think these were some kind of "healing marks". They are all gone now, and the redness in the fins had disappeared as well
Regular Member dnalex Posted March 15, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted March 15, 2012 Are you still salting the tank for the brown gills, Dan?
Regular Member Mr.B Posted March 15, 2012 Author Regular Member Share Posted March 15, 2012 @Fang. Ok, my bad. At any rate, that's what the spots on her tail look like. Alex, I am not salting. Her gills are nice and red now, but I was going to ask if I should salt again for the white dots on her tail. The red dots are already beginning to deminish. It has been almost two weeks since I've seen the dots. They don't last long. I don't think they were there when I got up and fed her this morning.
Regular Member dnalex Posted March 15, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted March 15, 2012 That's up to you really. I think the salt will help it go away faster, but an added WC each week will as well. So, whatever suits you best
Regular Member Mr.B Posted March 15, 2012 Author Regular Member Share Posted March 15, 2012 Then, I'll hold off on the salt and just do extra WC they don't take long in that tank. Do you think it's ok to put Mumford back in there yet?

Regular Member Mr.B Posted April 22, 2012 Author Regular Member Share Posted April 22, 2012 Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level 0 * Nitrite Level 5 * Nitrate level 0 * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 7.6 * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API Drops * Water temperature? 74 degrees * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 35g/over a year * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Tetra whisper ex45 Aquatech 5-15 * How often do you change the water and how much? 15g three times a week * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? Yesterday 15g * How many fish in the tank and their size? Two. 1- 3 1/2 in fantail, 1-1 1/2in lionhead * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Prime * What do you feed your fish and how often? 3-4 times a day. Mostly peas, spinach, and some green beans lately. Have been giving jumpstart pellets once or twice a day. Blood worms once or twice a week. Fasting one day a week. * Any new fish added to the tank? no * Any medications added to the tank? no * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. The fantail had a course of MMs and Medigold that lasted almost a month, back in December. The lion head had a two week course of MMs in March. Had the tank salted to .3% for a while when dealing with blood poisoning. The tank was salted from .1% to .3% for a total of a month or so. * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? Fantails fins have some veins showing in her tail, but they do not seem enflamed. She does have a red spot on her belly that runs down the fin on the right side. She had a red patch on her belly, but this has diminished greatly. * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? Both fish are active, eat well, and I have not noticed any bottom sitting. So, Ms. Hawn has had re-occuring red dots in her fins for the last couple of months. I will notice them in the morning and by night time they are gone. Friday night I noticed that she had a good sized red spot on her belly, and one between her belly and the (pectoral I think) fin on the right side. The redness had spread down the fin as well. Yesterday things looked a bit better, but they have not gone away completely. The patch on her bell is almost completely gone, but the one on her fin is still there . I have also noticed stringy gas filled poop quite a bit lately. She has also been floaty more often lately. There might be som connection to the gas filled poop/floating and the jumpstart pellets. The floatiness seems to happen when I feed them, but I have also noticed it when feedig peas, just not as pronounced. She has not been bottom sitting lately. She is active and eating well. Should I just continue to monitor? Here is a video, I hope you can see the red spot. I tried to hold her and take a picture, but she just wasn't into it and I didn't want her to get all stressed out. There is also a couple pictures of poop for your viewing enjoyment. Thanks.
Regular Member dnalex Posted April 22, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted April 22, 2012 Dan, you treated them both for flukes previously, right? Also, if the Jumpstart is causing her to float, I would either feed half that amount during each meal, or just switch to Pro-Gold or something else. Also, go with baby spinach and green beans more instead of peas. Peas can also make her gassy.
Regular Member Mr.B Posted April 22, 2012 Author Regular Member Share Posted April 22, 2012 Yeah they both got the full fluke teatment not too long ago. I didn't think about the peas giving her gas. Hmm. Thanks will try more green beans, and she really likes spianach too.
