Anyone Keep Red Claws?

Recommended Posts

So after I move and get settled, Im thinking about setting up a tank of red claw crabs. We have them at my current corporate petjob and Im in love with them. I have been reading and it looks like they are brackish. I have run brackish tanks before (pea puffers and bumble bee gobies, serperatly) We keep them in a semi-aquatic set up and the oin store guys seems to do well. We've been feeding them frozen brine and bloodworms, along with shrimp pellets and some tropical flakes.

Any tips or advice? Anyone have experiance with them? I have had Carribean Hermies for 8 years now, and they seem to be doing well. Thanks! :)

I've also sold them in the past but have never kept them at home. I have stocked them in both fresh water and brackish. I never noticed any difference in the crabs between the two set ups. I will be setting up a crab only tank in the next few weeks for my son. I'm 90% sure it will be red claw crabs. I will be feeding them Hikari Tropical Crab Cuisine. I've had nothing but success with Hikari products in breeding, showing and maintenance. I will also be adding various frozen foods as a supplement. Do you have a picture of your setup and specs?
