Regular Member us4298 Posted January 14, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted January 14, 2011 I just got my new aquarium light with 30 LED bulbs inside. The light uses 1.8 watts, so I was wondering if I can leave it on all day without having a spike in my electric bill?
Regular Member macbeth110 Posted January 14, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted January 14, 2011 At 1.8 watts, it will cost you less than fifty cents per month if you were to run it 24 hours a day.
Regular Member us4298 Posted January 14, 2011 Author Regular Member Share Posted January 14, 2011 O, so this will go great with my 1.8 watt air pump.
Regular Member seheap Posted January 14, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted January 14, 2011 Even though it won't cost you lots, you shouldn't keep aquarium lights on 24 hrs/day. Fish need night time too. They do sleep, and sleeping in the dark is a lot less stressful than sleeping with the lights on (since they have no eyelids).
Regular Member Jesi Posted January 17, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted January 17, 2011 I hate aquarium hoods because they get so gross from the bubbles popping at the top of the water, it makes mineral deposits. I had a hood from nnnnnn that was crappy and the screws would always get rusty. Then I got a better hood that has glass over the bulbs so it's not so nasty. I've never seen an LED hood though...where did you find that? I love LED lights and I want one now!
