Regular Member xwndtkot Posted January 13, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted January 13, 2011 Hello everybody, I am currently working on a new tank for the fishes Red Bean (Red Cap) and Kuma (gold/black Oranda). My current tank has some plants... that were able to escape from Kuma's big mouth (kuma's salad bar???) I will transplant the good plants to the new tank, but I also want to purchase couple more to replace the eaten ones.... what kind of treatment should I do to the plants before I put them in the new tank? The fishes had flukes couple weeks ago and it was hard to see and to deal with.... so I am trying not to get them sick if I can help it... Any suggestions how to treat the plants before putting in the tank will be helpful. Thanks in advance. Xeno.
Regular Member amynmitchell Posted January 13, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted January 13, 2011 I always treat mine with a 1 part bleach to 19 parts water ratio for two minutes. I am paranoid so I usually do this twice for strong plants and then if I have time I keep them in QT for a week or two.
Regular Member seheap Posted January 13, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted January 13, 2011 I couldn't have said it better myself. Although, I usually skip the QT if I know the store/seller that I bought them from is clean.
