Yes she is eating now, I would say the garlic has given her a very good appetite. Which is why I'm surprised at how thin she is getting. I feed her 3 times a day but just a little bit everytime.

Yes I have some Jungle anti parasite food, I can smash up the pellets because she refuses pellets, maybe soak it in some garlic juice? :)

I don't know if this is any help - but for your ammonia issue I know that a marine specialist store here sells Saltwater Zeolite??? Maybe you could look into that for her. :)

i would say if she keeps staying this way even after feeding her the gel garlic food, i would do that soak it in the garlic stuff to get it soft and feed that with the gel food... :)

Thanks Federica I will look into that. :) I hope something works because she doesn't need the ammonia on top of everything else.

Okay Koko, I'll see how she looks throughout the day and then if she doesn't look better «Ill get her started on the AP food. :)

Once she gets some more strength she will need another dip, but right now if there isnt much whiteness today let her rest some more to get some strength up :)

So no dip until she is stronger. I'll try and get her to eat the AP food and I'll try to deal with the ammonia. I'll let you know how she is doing. :)

I took a few pictures to show you some funny white areas on her body. Mainly near her tail. Also I'm seeing some red areas on her back near her dorsal fin but my camera can't seem to pick it out. :undecided: She has about 4 or 5 white spots on her other side.

I believe those color changing spots are from the ick... If she is showing swimming with dorsal fin up and alittle perkier, thats when I would do another dip, she needs one more atleast, but im concerned with her sluggishness hun....

Cant see the red spots are they like a pin head red spot or bigger?

They are bigger than pin heads, I was just looking again and I wonder if it isn't where some ich spots fell off. Almost like her skin is irritated. Maybe from the ich and the ammonia? Yes she perked up for the pictures, I was feeding her the AP food and garlic. She seemed to really like it. :) She's been swimming around dorsal up for the last 30 minutes or so.

Thanks Federica. :) Yes she is much more active now than the last few days. Last night I had to do a huge wc again because the ammonia was over .50 :o

So right now I need to do 2 wc a day to keep the ammonia down, this is making a serious dent in my supply of marine salt. This little molly is quickly becoming as expensive as any other marine fish.;)

But back to her update, she seems stronger and she is eating a lot which probably explains the ammonia rising. Her color is a little better today too. I think she'll be able to tolerate another freshwater dip later on today. What do you think?

I am a little curious about the ich spots on her tho. She has 2 that are quite big an they have been on her since the beginning of this which was around the end of December. I know that with freshwater ich those would have already fallen off of her. Is the life cycle of marine ich different? Or could this be some other parasite she picked up from the green chromis? :undecided:

Or could this be some other parasite she picked up from the green chromis?

Guess who is getting a saltwater QT tank now :)

Oh about the salt - my friend in Holland is expanding his shop and has started a HUGE saltwater section. Well he was explaining to me that he uses and sells sea water from the coast of Holland! Is that not a really bad idea relating to pollution and parasites? He says it's much healthier.

I am sooo getting the qt tank. :doh11: Right now all I have for Betty is a 5 gallon and I can see that is not working. I am going to try and sneak in at least a 10 gallon. :yeah:

I have heard of people using natural sea water but I would be too worried about introducing unwanted stuff in my tank. I like that the salt mix is relatively clean. It's a pain to mix and to get it just right but at least I know what I'm putting in the tank. :)

Will do Koko. :) Just thought I'd mention that up until I gave her the garlic and the AP food she was pooping normally but now her poop is stringy and white.

Just to update I gave her the dip for almost 5 minutes today she did very well with it. :) All the white spots have fallen off except the two big ones that have been there for so long. One is on her side and the other is right on the edge of her gill cover. I'm not sure those are really ich. :undecided:

She is still very thin compared to before even tho she is eating a lot. Here is a before pic so that you can compare.

Taken a few weeks ago:

Now: (You can see one of the big white cyst I'm worried about because it won't fall off.)

But on the other hand she is much more active, just to prove it.;)

Aw she looks happy poor dear. Could the white be fungus? Do you get that in salt water? Like maybe the chalky kind? She does look a lot thinner - order her a burger!
