Hi there,

one of my comets is yawning occasionally. More and more often. There is nothing stuck in his throat. Should I prazi as I have never done that?

Water parameters are

ammonia 0

nitrite 0

nitrate 5

ph about 7.5 or more (my test kit colors end at 7.5 and it's a bit darker)

It's a 55G with 2 comets who are about 3.5 and 4 inches long, give and take a little.

Any advise is appreciated. Thanks

Have they ever been treated for parasites or flukes? Sometimes fish yawn to clear their gills out.

No, I never did that. Should I do it just to make sure they don't have parasites?

If you were to count how often would you say they are yawning. I don't worry about a few times a day, but more than that would concern me enough to prazi them especially if they haven't been prazied before.

Ok. Thanks Amy. They only yawn a few times a day, but one of them more than the other and I noticed it more tonight.
