can other goldfish beside pom pom goldfish grow pom poms? i have a calico ryukin about 6" that is growing pompom looking things from his nostrels, should i be concerned. he seems healthy as usual otherwise and they dont seem to effect him in any way.! thankx

Pom Poms have been heavily crossbred into countless sport varieties. There are Telescopes, Orandas, Dragonheads, Lionheads and many others that have Pom Pom nasal bouquets. These are all generally considered sport varieties, and not separate breeds or Pom Pom variants in and of themselves.

Yep Dennis is right! There are many types of fish that can grow pom poms, they are just over-grown nasal flaps basically. I happen to have a veiltail telescope who has little pom pom things going on. I think it adds to her charm :)

thnakx everybody! im gonna try to figure out how to put up pictures of him, there not good quality but i think yall will see just how big they are!

My blue oranda has them and I think they make him look super cute :)

As for posting pictures, you can always upload them to a third party website like Photobucket and then copy and paste the image code here :) We'd love to see your pics!
