Regular Member Ringokat Posted December 2, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted December 2, 2010 Hello, one of my goldfish has injured his eye. It happened while I was at work but think it may have happened on a piece of coral. He eats, swims, and seems fine for the most part. The eye is however starting to get a milky, puffy look to it. I'm not sure what to do. Quarantine, meds, nothing? Any help is welcome. thank you!
Regular Member caitie Posted December 2, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted December 2, 2010 So sorry about the injury. If you could answer the following questions it would help us help your goldfish. [*]Test Results for the Following: [*]Ammonia Level? [*]Nitrite Level? [*]Nitrate level? [*]Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines)? [*]Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines)? [*]Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? [*]Water temperature? [*]Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? [*]What is the name and size of the filter(s)? [*]How often do you change the water and how much? [*]How many fish in the tank and their size? [*]What kind of water additives or conditioners? [*]What do you feed your fish and how often? [*]Any new fish added to the tank? [*]Any medications added to the tank? [*]Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? [*]Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.?

One of my commons injured his eye a while ago (and has completely healed now), so I thought you might want to refer to the thread I had posted: http://www.kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/forum/index.php?/topic/87023-injured-eye/ Basically, if it is indeed an injury from a coral or plant, clean water (and maybe 0.1% salt) will help him heal. If you can also take a photo of him that would be great. I hope he gets better soon!
