Eating Bubbles!

My one and only goldfish loves to eat bubbles from the bubbles wand which I know contributes to his floaty problems. Is there any way I can train him to stop this? He did have floaty problems before from over feeding, but I've cut down his food. He used to float upside down (scary!), now about once or twice a week he bottom sits for a good part of the day and then he's fine. I'm really getting worried about him (but trying to stay calm). Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't think there's really a way of getting them to stop. How big is the tank? What kind of filter do you have? I just ask because if the tank has a large volume and the filters make some splash, then a bubble wand probably isn't even necessary. So you could remove it, and he'd hopefully stop being floaty :)

If the filters don't make much splash and you have a canister filter, you could attach a spray bar to it, which will increase dissolved oxygen in the tank. Or if you don't have a canister filter, you could buy a small underwater pump and aim it pointing up towards the surface of the water. This would agitate the surface and increase dissolved oxygen as well.

The tank is about 40 gallons (can hold more, I just don't fill it to capacity). I have two filters, an AquaClear 50 and a Fluval 3 plus (which brings my filtration to just under the 10X recommended here). So maybe I will remove the bubble wand and see how that works. Thanks Sakura!!
