Regular Member npila1 Posted November 11, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted November 11, 2010 When people talk about saki hikari is this what they are talking about? http://www.amazon.com/Saki-Hikari-Fancy-Goldfish-Color-Sticks/dp/B001P220TQ/ref=sr_1_cc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1289517747&sr=1-1-catcorr I have 2 commons and 1 comet - can I feed this to them (since it says fancy goldfish)? Do you recommend this food? I currently feed progold, peas, corn, freeze dried bloodworms, banana, and flakes.
Regular Member Cynders Posted November 11, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted November 11, 2010 Yup that's what it is. Yes you can feed it to them, but I'd stick to progold for now and finish that off. I'd take the flakes out of their diet though, they're not really nutritious for 'em. I prefer saki hikari after switching from progold and my baby ranchu has really had a growth change.
Regular Member Trinket Posted November 11, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted November 11, 2010 This is is my #1 preferred commercial fish food. In fact it is all my fish get along with their veggies and fruit servings. I have no floaties and all my fish (11 fish) have grown huge on this food. I especially love that the pellets are TINY which means the fish have less to swallow, chew, and therefore digestion is easier, smoother and faster. This is the food used by many breeders here in Japan.
Regular Member lenacara Posted November 13, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted November 13, 2010 (edited) I have actually been shopping for some new fish food for my commets as well. I found this site http://nationalpondsupply.com/p-1640-saki-hikari-fancy-goldfish-color-enhancing-diet.aspx that has the same type of food in the same size as the link you had but with shipping was only $20 as compared to $40.00 from Amazon. It may just have been cause I live in Michigan though. Anybody have any issues with these pellets being to small and the fish not seeing them? The flakes I get now are kind of big and brightly colored and show against the bottom of the tank and I can't help but think my little idiots won't be able to find them.... Regular Member Cynders Posted November 13, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted November 13, 2010 : Why was shipping $40? You only really need a 7 oz bag of the baby color sticks. $40 must hae been for a huge bag. My fish are big and lumbering and had no problem seeing the things. They rely on smell and you can definitely smell it. They overturn rocks for the stuff! http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/243156/product.web http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001P220TQ/ref=s9_simh_gw_p199_d1_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=149H2HNB3XRXCKEX1Y7N&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846 here on amazon the shipping is only $5.50
Regular Member lenacara Posted November 13, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted November 13, 2010 Hakura you were so right! I did have other stuff in the cart and that was driving the price up. Now it's only $17.17 including shipping so I'm buying it! Thanks again (that's my happy dance)
Regular Member Cynders Posted November 13, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted November 13, 2010 (edited) Awesome! That's an excellent price! I can guarantee your fishies will enjoy it! Also, when that runs out you can give progold a try and then decide which one you like best Edited November 13, 2010 by Haruka
