Boog's head is looking different. Like a thickening on top. There is a ridge where his head and back meet. This area looks different than the rest of his skin, more mat and denser. These pics are not the best. What do you think? Could Boog have a wen forming?

I think all fish have a wen, just that it actually grows on orandas and ranchus etc. In my larger (older) Ryukins you can see it very well. Also on black moors the little thicker skin is very pronounced :) I think Boog is just becoming a young man :)

Fancy goldfish are so mixed-up genetically that you can see a trace of wen on many of them. It's from all the cross-breeding of the different varieties to enhance one characteristic or another (like introducing ryukins to oranda lines to get a chunkier body type). That's why those "mystery fish" can be so fun -- if you buy a really young, tiny goldfish, you never know what you're going to end up with!
