Regular Member Cynders Posted October 28, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 28, 2010 Welcome to Kokos! I would try and keep only 9 fantails in there. Start out with only one at first and then another later and so on. This way you can enjoy picking out your fish and you won't bump your cycle. Kudos to you for cycling first!

Regular Member blackteles Posted October 28, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 28, 2010 Agreed with Hakura on the amount of fantails that you start out with, Pug. Go light to start out with and it'll be much easier to cycle with a smaller bio load...then add fish gradually if you're not going to do a fishless cycle. Check your water parameters and do water changes daily as needed. Ask questions and lots of friendly and knowledgeable people will assist! You've come to the right place! Welcome aboard!

And ditto on how many, and when to add fish! It will make it MUCH easier on YOU and the fishA lot of us came here b/c we had too many fish in too small a tank-IT IS NOT FUN this way-give yourself, and them, a break

Regular Member number20121 Posted October 28, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 28, 2010 Hello and welcome to Koko's! As pointed out, 10 gallons per fancy is a minimum, especially when you just start out. Add one fish at a time to give the beneficial bacteria time to catch up with the waste!
