Regular Member Gardenuit Posted October 23, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 23, 2010 Just as a quick update: My orange fantail, Jet, used to have black markings on him when I got him, hence my reason for calling him jet. They actually faded after a week or so though. You can see them in this video.
Regular Member ashlee18 Posted October 23, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 23, 2010 Great changes to the tank. I wonder if the black was from ammonia burns, and then with your good care it healed up? Just wondering since you said it only lasted for about a week.
Regular Member Gardenuit Posted October 24, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 24, 2010 (edited) Well I can't say for sure. I think these particular black markings were a part of his design - it's how I picked him out from the pet store. Since he was very young they might have just been his juvenile coloring, but I only have about 4 months of fish keeping under my belt. Just things I have heard and read about fish colors. Edit: Thanks about the tank changes, the older video/tank was my 10g starter, the newer is a 26g. Regular Member Gardenuit Posted October 24, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 24, 2010 Here is a better version of my current tank setup: You can see all the fish better, including the shubunkin, Phoenix. Also, here is a video of what this tank first looked like, and the original 6 fish that were stocked in there. This was the tank status when I first signed up here with the ich situation. As you can clearly see, the tank is very overstocked, and there is a lot of gravel and decorations. I now prefer the minimalist method, and it has it's nice look too. And the last one for now... Here was my old 10g starter tank with my 3 beginning fish, Maco, Stella, and Jet before I changed them over to the 26g.
