Regular Member kiesha Posted October 20, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 20, 2010 Hi guys, Fish had ick, got rid of that and now they all have bacterial infections. I am going to treat it with medication but I don't know how to remove the carbon from the filter. Can anyone help? I have an emperor 400 and penguin 330 on a 55 gal tank

I'm confused, the blue part is stuck to the black part that houses the filter? I need to know how to get the carbon out of the back of the filter? The guy at the fish store told me to just take the catriges out. I swear this is the most frustrating thing. I almost wish I had not gotten back into this aquarium business.
Regular Member ashlee18 Posted October 21, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 21, 2010 Just toss out the cartridge. Put in some sponges to replace it. But from what I understand, carbon isn't active very long anyway so it may be useless by now.
