Regular Member ashv20 Posted October 20, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 20, 2010 (edited) I clean my tank once a week about 50% of the water, now, I don't age my water because that would mean having about 20-30 buckets over the floor. Instead, because the garden hose is close to the tank, I drag it through the kitchen and stick it in the tank to refill; usually I take the fish out while I do this because I don't know whether or not it's bad for them. Would it be possible to leave them in there while I fill the tank up directly from the hose? Moving them out is just such a pain; and catching them... Thanks guys edit: I prime it once it's refilled, then add the fish usually. Edited October 20, 2010 by ashv20
Regular Member dogsbykat Posted October 20, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 20, 2010 Is the water temp matched from the hose? If yes, then you don't need to remove them, just add your conditioner before the water.
Regular Member rai-nbow Posted October 20, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 20, 2010 I fill my tank up straight from shower via a garden hose. As long as the pH and temperature's are the same, it's totally fine. ^.^
Regular Member ashv20 Posted October 20, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 20, 2010 It is pretty much the same, as I don't heat the tank, and ph is exactly the same. Excellent So you guys add the dose of water conditioner then refill? I guess that makes sense.

But yep, just add in the water conditioner as you are filling it up.
Regular Member kukana d Posted October 20, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 20, 2010 Be SURE to add the Prime BEFORE you fill it so that it will dechlor the incoming water!!! The splash from the hose will bind the Prime to the chlorine

Regular Member ashv20 Posted October 20, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 20, 2010 Done I added a little extra dose of prime before filling the tank up. My psycho fish were swimming under the hose current; like directly under! I nearly had a heart attack! But they are fine.
