Regular Member Wendy Posted October 16, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 16, 2010 My QT tank has a black background and I have been looking at particles in the water and it is driving me crazy so I did a 99% water change and still have "dust". I finally realized all the dust looks like the same length,3/16ths inch, and super fine hair like and so is this planaria? How do I get rid if it? They aren't moving except in the current. Ok maybe one looked like it wiggled but for the most part it doesn't look alive. I have an aquaclear 20-30 gallon filter with a sponge AND floss and a tiny bit of media. I am salting Rog at 1% in this tank to heal raggedy fins.
Regular Member Cynders Posted October 16, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 16, 2010 There could be excess food in there .Are there any ornaments in there? I had an icky planaria problem once and they were all hiding under a dragon ornament I had. I would swish the filter media in tank water just incase.
Regular Member Wendy Posted October 16, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 16, 2010 The tank has nothing but Rog and the filter. I will rinse the filter media in dechlorinated water later today.
Regular Member Cynders Posted October 16, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 16, 2010 That should help out some. They could possibly be in the filter?
Regular Member theaquaticlibrary Posted October 16, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 16, 2010 I can't see it being planaria as they normally creep out of the substrate after lights out and climb up the glass, I know its a sign of poor maintenance on the substrate dept. but its great free fish food as well
