Regular Member ashv20 Posted October 14, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 14, 2010 So my baby pearl scale got nitrite burns to his fins about a week ago, so I did about .1% salt for a week, didn't see any changes and decided to put the little guy intothe big tank as it is more stable, and proper filtration. When I was testing the pearlsclaes ph before adding the little guy I noticed it was at 6!! No wonder he wasn't getting any better! Does salt do this? Or have I been using the wrong salt? Since he's in the main tank with excellent water and filtration, should his fins heal eventually now?
Regular Member Chrissy_Bee Posted October 14, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 14, 2010 What is the pH of your tap water? Also, do you know your kH? My guess is you probably have very low kH and need a buffer to raise your pH.
