Regular Member number20121 Posted October 10, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 10, 2010 I kept two apple snails with my goldfish for the longest time because their tank is bigger. Now I had to salt the goldfish tank though and so I moved the snails into the tropical tank for the time being. Funny thing is it seems that they grew a lot since they are in the tropical tank. The yellow snail's color seems deeper, and they're both quite active. Should I just leave them in the tropical tank then, or put them back with the goldfish?
Regular Member Cynders Posted October 10, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 10, 2010 I would leave them in the tropical tank. They're probably more apt to find food there and are probably less likely to get picked at by your hungry goldies.
Regular Member number20121 Posted October 10, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 10, 2010 I shall follow this advice then It is just so funny to see the yellow one racing all over the place in there. He loves traveling up and down the air tube and heater
Regular Member Captain Findus Goldfish Posted October 10, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 10, 2010 Is it warmer in the tropical tank? they are probably high on the heat!

Regular Member number20121 Posted October 10, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 10, 2010 Yep, the tropical is set to 80 degree. The goldfish tank doesn't have a heater because I live in the south. I'd rather need a cooler So it is.. 76 right now. Really, every time I look over at the tropical tank I see the yellow snail somewhere else. And he is FAST.
Regular Member Lupin Posted October 10, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 10, 2010 I personally prefer to keep snails with a temp no more than 78 degrees. Warm temp just shortens their life span and while it does increase their growth rate, it makes their shells increasingly thin and brittle.
Regular Member number20121 Posted October 11, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 11, 2010 Ouch. Then I guess I will move them back in with the goldis. There is more room too. I rather have them long than fast
