Making A Shrimp Bowl

Hi all,

I have a spare bowl with no special use. It's what I first kept my goldies in (for like 3 weeks before I discovered this place) and since then has had basically no use. It is however a very nice bowl and quite big - I think about 4 gallons according to my calculations. Also it cost me a fair amount of money.

I'd love to try and set up a planted shrimp bowl! I read this basic how-to guide which seemed quite helpful and I think I will do the quickstart option but basically any advice is much appreciated.

I won't be setting this up for a couple of weeks so I have loads of time to prepare!

What sort of plants should I use?

Should I use sand with soil or gravel?

How many shrimp should I put in my bowl?

Thanks!

Anytime be sure to post pictures and stuff so I can see how it goes. Would love to do one myself but with one of my 4 one gallon bowls I have laying around the house.

Im betting that you can keep a couple dozen of cherry shrimps in that bowl. As for substrate, I would peronally go for gravel, and for plants, go for some java moss and mossballs since they don't require an artificial light, and shrimps jsut love those stuff.
