Regular Member Mollie Posted August 1, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted August 1, 2010 So back in June I had to pack up everything and leave for college, this also meant I had to give away all my goldies and completely take apart my tank. Fortunately, in a few weeks I'll be moving and my new dorm allows for a 20 gallon tank! :) The question I have is if I would be able to seed my filter at home before setting up the tank in my dorm. I was thinking about using a little 2.5 gallon tank, putting the filter media in there with an airstone and then adding ammonia like in a fishless cycle. I should be home for about ten days but then I would have to move the filter media 8 hours away to my new dorm. Is this even possible or should I just wait until I'm settled in my new dorm?
