I managed to snap a couple of pictures before his wc. In the first one even if it is blurred it appears as if the worm that was making that ring in my earlier post has moved to a new location. Is that possible? But in person you can really see the shape of the worm.

In this one you can see one of the lumps I was describing earlier. On a side note you can also see how well his tail is healing. :)

His tail is looking much better :) Is he food hunting with his nose in the gravel like that? Those lumps look worrying but he seems to have perked up from the 'no food for me!' fish this morning. Lets hope the Jungle sorts him out!

No he keeps his nose in the gravel all the time since this morning. He will swim up sometimes but he sinks back down when he stops. Might be because his tail is still too short to balance him out.

Imo, can you see the worm properly on the first pic of post 127? It's a little blurred but I can vaguely see it. Not just any color pattern to me. Why does the middle part look seemingly segmented? Looks like that from here.

My eyes feel a little watered from squinting too much.ignore.gif

I hope I'M not causing permanent damage to your eyes Lupin. :D

I wanted to give a quick update before I log off for the night. Bandit managed to eat about 8 pellets of the jungle anti parasite today. I hope he is getting enough. I did a 80% wc and managed to put about 1/3 of his gravel in a stocking. I added in his last dose of Kanaplex and salt at 0.1%. He spends most of the time face down in the gravel but he is swimming around a little bit more than this morning.

I want to thank you guys for helping me out this morning. On my own I'm pretty sure I would have given up on him! :(

You are doing great Edith (just realized ) and so is Bandit. The head standing is of course a symptom of worms. Not sure exactly why..

Im sorry I cant see worms even with my reading glasses. I need one to come out waving a banner "I am a worm dont shoot" or something sorry. I am sure they are there though. Stick with the treatment as is, its wonderful news he ate 8 pieces of Jungle. Well done :heart

Holy Cow! I have magnifying glass out and can see nothing! I am glad someone can! :)

Keep going Edith! You are doing good job! Pretty much a cheerleader here! Trinket is the med specialist! Obviously Lupin has good eyes! :)

It looks a bit like cyst to me.

As always wishing :heart and gudluksn.gif

Thanks for asking Imo. :) Sorry I haven't updated but internet was down all night and all day today. Bandit is doing very well,he is swimming almost frantically. :D He looks a little swollen but then he doesn't poop very much when he eats pellets. He has finished his third treatment of kanaplex. I did a 50% wc today and replaced his salt at 0.1%. All the gravel is in a stocking finally. He is eating the anti parasite food very well, about 12 pellets a day. This is his third day so if I follow instructions I should stop feeding this and resume his normal food. And next week he would have the anti parasite food for three days again. I am wondering how long it will take before the worms come out. I keep expecting the worse! :yikes

Good. Just keep going and keep us posted. Even if this turns out to be internal cysts as Stephie thought the medication is fine, should help and should be finished. The best thing is he is eating well and this really indicates he has a good recovery chance.

I don't know if I should post this somewhere else but I'll try here first. When I got up this morning Bandit's tank was cloudy and smelled terrible. (You could smell it when you entered the room) He was still swimming around like nothing was happening. Here are my stats: I use nutrafin drops all my test kits were opened last month.

Ammo: 2.4 :yikes

Nitrites: 0.1

Nitrates: 5

P.H 8.0

Yesterday morning all the test were normal. I just finished an 80% wc.I added some cycle to his filter. And the ammo is still at 0.3. He had salt at 0.1% I removed it because I wasn't sure if he could have salt with the ammo showing up. I think maybe the Kanaplex messed up his cycle. Is there something I should do to help him out? I imagine I will need to do another big wc tonight, but I've never had to deal with ammonia in my tanks once the fish are in it. I'd appreciate any advice. :)

I would just do another water change for now hun... ammonia being that high, the fish will need some rest time (24=48 hours) with out meds or you could kill him :(

Thanks Koko. Luckily he had finished all his meds. I just wonder, since the ammonia is now at 0.3 should I do a second 80% wc tonight or wait until tommorow. I don't want to make a mistake he has struggled with so many problems recently poor little guy. I feel so bad about this ammonia thing, I never thought it could get so high so quickly. Last night it was 0 and this morning it was 2.4. And the weird thing is he is acting completely normal?

I would do another water change. And you are having a cycle bump -yes it was the kanaplex Im sure- so now begins checking the ammonia twice daily, morning and night and probably 2 water changes a day. It is so important he has fresh water after meds like koko said. The cycle should bounce back like that in less than a week.

Incidentally its a good idea to add more media at this point (you didnt remove any of the hosed gravel?.. I assume- hope not)...as that will help kickstart the cycle :)

Thanks Imo. :heart So I will be doing lots of wc this week. :D I left all the hosed gravel in the tank and all the other decorations just in case they had good bb on them. I added one dose of cycle to the filter this morning should I add any more or will wc alone do the trick?

Trouble with cycle is it needs time to settle and attach. And if you are doing twice daily w/cs much gets wasted as its thrown out with the water. Could you add more media?

 I should of thought about that myself.

When you say media do you mean a piece of sponge from another cycled tank, because the aquaclear filter on Bandit's tank is already pretty full. :o don't tell me I was supposed to remove the media from the filter before I treated the tank!?

:hi I wanted to give you a quick update on Bandit's health. He seems much better even though he still swims heads down sometimes. I'm still struggling with the ammonia in his tank but it is getting better. With 2 90% wc a day it stays at about 0.1. Hopefully tomorrow it will be down to 0. :please . Anyways he seems on the mend now. Next week he'll get three more days of anti parasite food. I can still see the white marks in his abdomen. But the little lumps or cysts seem to be gone.

Here is a picture of him from tonight. By the way his tail is growing very well. :)

Thanks to everyone who helped us out. :heart

Thanks Sarah, I'm so happy to see him getting better. :bounce But I find it strange that he's been with me for 6 months now and he hasn't really grown. And he's got a huge appetite. He looks tiny compared to all my other goldies too.

Im glad he is doing well Edith. I've a special place in my heart for Bandit, truly. I hope he will go on to grow now and this can be put behind for ever. His tail looks just fabulous :heart
