Help Finding Just The Right Filter

I have a new 29 gallon set up and I'm running an Emperor 280 on it, so I'm a smidge under-filtered. On my other 29 gallon I have an Emperor 400, which I think works great. I'd like to add a smaller filter to the new tank, rather than getting rid of the 280 altogether.

So, what kind of filter will be relatively inexpensive, add about 100gph or so, and not take up more than 4-4.5 inches of room on the back of my tank. (I'm hoping not to have to cut into the hood.) I know I could add some type of canister filter and it would take up minimal space on the tank, but they seem to be super-duper costly. Any ideas for smaller HOB filters?
