Are These Eggs?

Recommended Posts

Appear to be eggs, but for sure NOT fertile.

When they turn white like that, fungus got to them or they were not fertilized.

Did you have a fairly fat female in your tank, that is a bit skinny now?

Yup looks like you have eggs. You need to make sure you vacuum them all up, any that don't get eaten that is. They will act like excess food in the tank! Have fun with the water change. ;)

I am wondering however about the red streaks in the tail fin of the fish in the top of the picture? Is that the normal coloring?

It can take several days for a female fish to clear all the eggs. Just make sure if you have males in the tank with her that she doesn't get too worn out by the chasing.

I didn't notice any of my fish to be fatter. No recent chasing in the tank either. I have never sex my fish before.

So, I should just get rid of them?

Get rid of what the fish or the eggs? :rofl

Yes, vacuum the eggs so they don't cause a spike in your cycle. :)

Watch for more, and just keep cleaning them up!
