Although I seem to remember her saying that like most everything else with goldfish it depends on the fish......

Definitely Daryl will be able give you some more factual answers. I know she is having some computer issues right now, so wait up.

Meanwhile, in my experience, males are ready earlier, around one year. Females later. They say the best (genetically good) batches come from a young male and older female (around 3 years) My females took 2~ 3 years to be ready with eggs but it may depend on size. Some fish grow so fast and so big in so short a time.
