Regular Member Wasabi Posted March 1, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted March 1, 2009 about 5 weeks ago I got a calico fantail he was orange with black on his tail and on his head but just recently I stopped feeding him a brine shrimp based food and he lost his black I also increased the amount of light into the tank. So now he has completely lost all his black on his head which is a substantial amount of black can I make him get it back? I love his black I have also been feeding him more then normal considering when I got him he was very very skinny.

Regular Member Ribac Posted March 1, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted March 1, 2009 Probably not...My pretty blue and black shubunkin also lost almost all of his black & blue color. He is not from the straight shubunkin line.
Regular Member amynmitchell Posted March 2, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted March 2, 2009 It might be just a color change or it is also possible that he had ammonia burns and with your good care has lost them.

I agree, that is also possible. Especially if it's happened quickly.
