Here's a link explaining how old he is and how he found me:

Saggsters story

I really cant believe how much he has grown in the past year!!!! Seriously, he's filled out very nicely from being the skinny, malnourished little moor i found in the muck at the bottom of a 20 gallon tall. And in hindsight, his tank was really left unattended for longer than I thought! :o

But he sure gets the happy ending, doesn't he? :D

I forgot to add;

You are sooo right, Lach! No single picture that i have ever taken of him does him justice. Heck, i think i'll need a wide angle lens for that! :rofl

Kat, Shagg found me in 99-2000. He was already probably 6 inches then.

You guys should see his tubricles! No joking at all, I have never, ever seen a fish with more pronounced breeding stars ever! They litterally run down his sides near his lateral line next to his operculum (gill flap). Some of you may remember a post about that a few months ago. Well, they are even more and they are just everywhere. It's like he's a raging pit of hormones or something! :lol:

O.K. I'm done boasting about him. Sorry, I just can't help it!

Moors make excellent tankmates for just about every other fancy goldfish there is. Mainly because their eyesight isnt as good as most and their body and finnage makes them swim slower than common/comet types.

As for tankmates, I personally like Weather Loaches (dojo). They are by all means the number one candidate for goldfish tankmates. You will not be disappointed....... ;)

Here's a very good acount of them: Dojo Weather Loaches

Good luck! :D

Hi,

I just thought I would mention that I have a shubunkin and a black moor together who are actually good mates now, they play and follow each other around. I bought them a good year ago, before I was aware you probably shouldn't mix them, and fast vs slow fish in general.

I think it depends on how much effort you want to take in caring for them. I take special care to make sure the black moor gets his food.

I'm not saying you should go out of your way to mix them, just that it can work out ok with some care.

I also have a fancy fantail with them, so I guess the shubunkin is outnumbered, but they all get along well, and we have developed a feeding routine that works well.
