I bid. I am thinking.....

That particular one is a bit too extreme for my tastes...... I prefer a more....fishy fish, I guess.

Still thinking.......

I will contemplate the others. I am looking for a nice female Ryukin.... and perhaps a cherry Classic Chinese Lionhead. Not sure if they are here.....

Still thinking.....

For the size that I am seeing on that particular fish, I would expect to see more muscle.... a double hump or a more developed, strong back. That one is all "first" hump and no muscle development.

It may be able to be built with the proper feeding and some time, but with that extreme and no muscle to back it at this time, I worry about the stability in the future. It needs a lot of body building to support itself - and I do not see it. Maybe in the future.... it is a very young fish.

Personally, I am also not a fan of the soft gill plate - and I prefer not to add that into my line - it usually leads to heavy percentages of "pinkies" - or white fish with soft gill plates. THose I usually have to cull - and I HATE culling more than 50% of the fry!!

Oh my, I wish I had more money right now, I love that calico oranda #112. I love calicos and I am looking for another nice deep bodied oranda to go with my brusier Buster. I am far too picky for the orandas they sell in the shops I got very lucky with Buster, and I've never seen them get any more like her in my LFS back home.

I think muscle counts for a LOT.....or at least is does in people who actually pay attention to Ryukin. Unfortunately, with many judges, they seem to get short shrift.

Here - for example - are two of my fry from last year. I just got their double humps started - but you can already see the side muscles developing. By the end of next summer, at show time, I expect they should really be powerful muscle men. They are only about 3.6 inches in body... but are well on their way to growing into what I consider good Ryukin.

Time for a bottle.....

I was thinking more about #11..... I think #10 is too short bodied to hold up over time. Number 15 is a cross. I want the classic.....

11 may have too much tail tuck. #6,7,8 all have fairly nice backs, but I do not like the rest of the fish.

WOW! This auction is amazing! There is something for everyone!!

Here's the tricky part... The three fish I wanted from Andrew are these: I actually BOUGHT them but was told he could not ship to the US right now. I did not know that.

http://www.fishsempai.com/product_info.asp?product=964

http://www.fishsempai.com/product_info.asp?product=989

http://www.fishsempai.com/product_info.asp?product=988

(and this one was a maaaaybe but I did not actually attempt to buy it:

http://www.fishsempai.com/product_info.asp?product=973

He did say he would hold them for me if I wanted to make the drive. It's about 8 hours so a bit far, but just think of how much fun it would be to be able to look at his farm, take pictures.... Etc...

Now... the GFC auction has some great fish that are very comparible to the ones I picked out..

LOT 21: http://www.goldfishconnection.com/uploads/.../AUC_119_21.JPG

LOT 73: http://www.goldfishconnection.com/uploads/...UC_119_73_1.JPG

LOT 69: http://www.goldfishconnection.com/uploads/.../AUC_119_69.JPG

With the sale the price ends up being just about $20 more for the GFC fish if I buy them all now.. Driving versus shipping, not much different since gas is so cheap right now.. So price wise, both are pretty much the same. It's not like one is sooo much better.

So now I am left with a decision.. Do I make the drive so that I can get the EXACT three fish I wanted (cause something about them just seems right because I have been looking at them sooo long). Or do I order from GFC?

PRO: I get the EXACT FISH I have been looing at and wanting

CON: What if he sells them, and I miss out on this great sale? I can buy them from GFC now and KNOW they are mine!

PRO: It will be FUN to visit a fish farm... Taking pictures and just looking around? Thats just a FUN experience!!!!

CON: Have to drive 8 hours there, 8 hours back, and right now I am running short on time with the holidays coming up.

PRO: I get to transport them myself.. I could use a rubbermaid or something with an battery operated pump and that would be nice for them I would think as opposed to being shipped in bags from the evil UPS men. lol

CON: Do I need paperwork to take fish accross the border? Or to take myself accross the border? If he had problems shipping them, will I run into problems bringing them back with me? I'm confused!!

What do you guys think?!

The thing is, right now the GFC auction has I think one of EACH type of fish I want if I could ever "complete" my collection.. (This is why I still want another 55 gallon LMAO)

Blue Ranchu Lot 27: http://www.goldfishconnection.com/uploads/.../AUC_119_27.JPG

White Oranda: Lot 111: http://www.goldfishconnection.com/uploads/...AUC_119_111.JPG

White Butterfly: Lot 55: http://www.goldfishconnection.com/uploads/...UC_119_55_1.JPG

Red/White Butterfly Moor: Lot 49: http://www.goldfishconnection.com/uploads/.../AUC_119_49.JPG

Calico Butterfly Moor: Lot 52 http://www.goldfishconnection.com/uploads/...UC_119_52_1.JPG

AND THEN there are beauties I never even considered:

Tri Color Butterfly Moor: Lot 54 http://www.goldfishconnection.com/uploads/.../AUC_119_54.JPG

Red/White Lionhead: Lot 11 http://www.goldfishconnection.com/uploads/.../AUC_119_11.JPG

Tancho Lionhead: Lot 6 http://www.goldfishconnection.com/uploads/...AUC_119_6_1.JPG

And Finally: THE MOST GORGEOUS FISH IN LIFE:

http://www.goldfishconnection.com/uploads/.../AUC_119_34.JPG

OMG someone here HAD to get this fish!!!!!

I swear I need 200 more gallons, because this auction is amazing..

But, again, I wonder what I could find at Andrews farm!!!??

Add that to the pro & con list

PRO: TONS OF FISH TO LOOK AT

CON: TONS OF FISH TO LOOK AT (and not enough space and seeing them in person is more tempting)

PRO: JUST BUY MORE TANKS SUE LOL

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!
