The Colormax bulbs are "daylight" bulbs, and I found this product description:

"Designed to provide rich light to enhance the colors in any freshwater aquarium. Provides a full spectrum of visible light to ensure healthy plant growth. 5,000K "

If you are having problems with brown algae, increasing the amount of light may help. However, then you may end up with green algae... but at least it won't be ugly. Try reading this thread for ideas: http://www.kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/...showtopic=35167

I've learned to be cautious of the term "full-spectrum" as it doesn't actually have a standard definition:
