His best buddy Frederick is invited to chow down Which he does The new guys wait for leftovers... There are none...I'm pretty sure this is an actual fish burp caught on camera

Regular Member Chrissy_Bee Posted October 13, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 13, 2008 Love the fish burp, rofl! Did the newbies get any at all? Yes, the big boys did share in the end, and I put a small piece in another clip on the bottom....so don't let their long faces make you feel too bad
Regular Member cometgirl Posted October 13, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted October 13, 2008 Great pictures! I love George's burp of satisfaction at the end. Your green background really shows off the fish well. I'm going to have to hunt up some cellophane wrap around here.

Regular Member Chrissy_Bee Posted October 13, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 13, 2008 (edited) Yes the little ones did get some, I gave them their own little piece. I just thought their pathetic faces were too funny not to post What's even funnier is that George is creeping on them from behind the plant, almost like he's saying "you better not eat that orange....or else I'll do to your eyes what I did to that citrus!" Regular Member stevey87 Posted November 5, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted November 5, 2008 I didn't know goldfish can eat orange. Can you feed them anything we eat? For example, soft pork or chicken since I heard protein helps them grow faster.
Regular Member Chloeheartsfish Posted November 5, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted November 5, 2008 Aw, lol! Do fish need to reach a certain size or age before they can tackle fruits and veggies? Or can young fish have them too?
Regular Member Chrissy_Bee Posted November 5, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 5, 2008 stevey..check this out, it should answer your question http://www.kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/...hp?showtopic=82 And chloe, do you mean fry or just small fish? Small goldies can eat fruits and veggies for sure!
Regular Member Chloeheartsfish Posted November 5, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted November 5, 2008 Yep, I mean just small guys, like between two and four inches. I should bring some fruits and veggies for the goldies at work!!! I bet they would appreciate the variety!

For example, soft pork or chicken since I heard protein helps them grow faster. While goldies can eat many things we eat, you can't feed them ANYTHING we eat, and definitely not pork or chicken. As far as "human's" meats, you can feed them fresh fish and seafoods. Make sure fish and seafood are not salted or seasoned in any way. Protein should make up about 50% of their diet. The remaining 50% should be a variety of fruits and steamed veggies. Oranges, peaches, strawberries, kiwi, banana, pumpkin, broccoli, dark leafy lettuces, spinach, kale, etc. And, if you make gel food, you can mix in all these foods as well as many others, including things like bell peppers and garlic. Yummy!
Regular Member Chrissy_Bee Posted November 5, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 5, 2008 I tried feeding my goldies fruits/veggies years ago and couldn't make it work. I think the key is to steam or boil them well, so they are soft and easy to bite, and to use a veggie clip
Regular Member Chloeheartsfish Posted November 5, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted November 5, 2008 So do you blanch everything you give? Even fruits?
Regular Member Chrissy_Bee Posted November 5, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 5, 2008 No, not orange. I don't feed any other fruit, but I think cantelope would be soft enough for them. The brocolli is one I really boil, otherwise they just won't eat it. But when it's nice and soft they LOVE it.
Regular Member Blue Posted November 5, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted November 5, 2008 O yes the almighty brocolli mine would kill for it Excellant pics Chrissy those poor little guys would make anyone feel like you did starve them George lurking so he can pounce on them if they go near the sacred orange
