Regular Member Nomi Posted September 20, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted September 20, 2008 Hi! Telling the gender of a goldfish is difficult, even for seasoned goldfish keepers. Males will get breeding tubercles, or breeding stars (small white pimple-like bumps on the gill plate and front of pectoral fin) when they are ready to breed. Also, males will have an 'innie' vent and females will have an 'outie', though this isn't always %100. Hopefully someone with more goldfish experience can elaborate and add pictures.

Regular Member cometgirl Posted September 20, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted September 20, 2008 (edited) Check this topic in the breeding section http://www.kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/...showtopic=18264 As Nomi said, it is hard to tell, especially when they are small. Many people here have been surprise when their "Joe" turns out to be a "Josephine"! Edited September 20, 2008 by cometgirl
Regular Member Nomi Posted September 20, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted September 20, 2008 My Gilbert has already turned out to be a.... Gilbertine. Of course, I doubt that Girl Gilbert cares if her name sounds female or not as long as I feed her. XD
