Regular Member Chester's_Mommy Posted August 21, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted August 21, 2008 I've recently come into possession of a filter that has no markings at all and does not have any filter media, but I'd really like to use it because even with my new tank I'm sort of cramping my babies. So! My question is, can I just... buy any random filter insert and jam it in? Or will it... not work... if I don't figure out the exact right one to purchase?
Regular Member vickielm Posted August 21, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted August 21, 2008 You can buy filter floss at the lfs and make your own custom to fit filters. They also have carbon chips there if you prefer to use them with the filter. Its really a lot cheaper to do this also.
Regular Member Chrissy_Bee Posted August 22, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted August 22, 2008 I often 'jam' my filters with media from other brands. As long as the water still flows well, you're ok
Regular Member Chester's_Mommy Posted August 22, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 22, 2008 Although cheapness does have its perks... I think I'll go the route of the Filter Jamming. Thanks!! (And in my free time, I'll try to figure out what the heck kind of filter it actually is -- do we know of any brands that are Purple and Terribly Ugly?)

Regular Member Chester's_Mommy Posted August 22, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 22, 2008 YES! That's it!! It's an ugly, ugly Cascade 150 Power Filter!! ::: does a little dance of joy ::: HUZZAH! Thanks -- now I'll just buy the correct inserts and feel slightly less sketchy.
