Guest katie.P
Well, i am cycling my first tank ready for a goldie (my first one, yay EXITED) I have been looking through the picture section of all the different tanks and realy like the plant pots turned over (i do this for the land snails and they LOVE it) I have some questions that have been ... umm ... fogging my mind lol Are the plant pots people use clay? are they definatly safe if washed realy well with warm clean water? i have a clay one in the garage that is not being used for anything but am abit wary of putting it in the tank :S
Regular Member Chrissy_Bee Posted August 3, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted August 3, 2008 The pots are unglazed terra cotta. There are actually a few threads about them and everyone seems to agree that they are safe for tanks.
Regular Member lynda441 Posted August 8, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted August 8, 2008 With a clay pot that was used for other purposes and that has sat unused and exposed to bacterias, etc., I would suggest boiling it for a while before adding it to the tank. That way you can be sure of a clean, sterile pot that won't leach any unwanted dirt, minerals and/or bacteria into the water.
