Regular Member scaring Posted July 25, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted July 25, 2008 My Chioggia beets are ready and I have tons of greens. Chioggias are red and white striped and are like the sugar beet in which they are sweet with natural sugar. I am purely organic all the way down to my own compost and worm poo. We eat them both raw, in salads and steamed like spinach. They contain almost all the same health benefits as spinach + a few that spinach doesn't have. Can I drop some in for Elvis? Cut up raw? or steamed? or both?
Regular Member heidiinatree@yahoo.ca Posted July 25, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted July 25, 2008 steamed is always good ..that way it holds the nutrients ..I also put lettuce type stuff spinach etc in the freezer for 20 minutes and it also makes it soft and easy for the fish to rip apart.. fruits like bananas should be kept to minimum...as they are really high is sugars..but my fish LOVE their once a month banana treat!!!
