Awesome Concert Experience (s)

A few weeks ago I saw one of my favorite country singers in concert and had a REALLY great show.. I've been meaning to write about it because it was just sooooo awesome, but I've just been so busy. But then Blue just wrote about the Simple Plan tickets and it reminded me so here goes.. I've got sooo many fun concert experiences. I'll just start with the one and maybe add a few more over time. If anyone else has any it would be fun to hear! Doesn't matter what kind of music!!

Chris Cagle is one of my top country singers. I've seen him in concert I believe 6 times now. I've met him 3 of those times. The most recent time was a few weeks ago in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. I used to always join his fan club so I could meet him, but it got to the point where not EVERYONE could meet, so I stopped renewing. This time when I got to the place. (A REALLY fun beach side bar at Jenkinsons Pavillion!!!) I went to the merchandise table and saw meet & greet passes for sale!!! So I bought one.

There were about 30 to 40 people at the meet n greet. I was about 5th to last. For the most part Chris seemed pretty quiet. He was taking pictures and smiling and getting people's names for their autographs, but he didn't seem to be a major talker. Most times I've met him I found that to be true. He's always NICE just doesn't say much. Honestly MOST people are like that. When I got up I gave him my CD to sign and said "I've been a fan of yours since the first album". He said "oh that's great!" and I said "I really love the new CD" and he said "Do you have a favorite song on the CD?". I said "yeah my favorite is Never Ever Gone". Before that he was kinda looking down without really giving eye contact. At that point he looked up and he looked all excited and said "SERIOUSLY? That's your favorite?" and I said "yeah I love em all but that one's the best" and he said something like "For REAL?!:" and I said "yep I heard it when you played Great Adventure last month and I just love it" and he said "That one is gonna be the next single!! I am so glad you like it!".

So during the concert at first I stayed back by the bar but after a few songs I couldn't resist and I started getting closer to the stage. Maybe about 5 songs in I noticed Chris looking around the audience weird. Like he was looking for someone. It was SOOO loud so we couldn't hear everything perfect but he started saying something along the lines of "where are you? I know you're out there somewhere!" and mentioning how someone had told him this was their favorite song. THAT'S ME!!!! Shane said a bunch of other girls were squealing and jumping up and down like it was them and Chris was looking at them like "no not you". It took a second to realize it was ME and then I started jumping up and down and waving to get his attention. He found me and said "THERE you are!!! This one's dedicated to you sweetie". AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!. How FUN!!!! Shane says he heard me shrieking all loud LMAO.. I don't even remember. That was soooo fun. Then a few times after that point he would come over and give me a special point or look or wink. Chris is actually VERY good about doing that to all his fans. He clearly makes a point to give as many people that special moment as possible. But yeah I can say I won!!!

It was sooo cool to have my favorite song dedicated to me in front of EVERYONE!!! He didn't dedicate any other songs to any one else. Just me!!! Now every time I hear the song I love it even more!

K anyone else got a fun concert experience? Or even a fun meeting "famous" person experience?

That's an awesome concert experience. I am glad you had so much fun!

Has anyone heard of The Samples? They are a Colorado band (where I am from). I grew up going to their concerts when I was in middle school and high school when they were still opening for other bands and playing at small festivals. After they got a little more popular I saw them play several times at Red Rocks. When I went to college in Missouri The Samples were just starting to become really well known. My first year of college they came and played a concert in my college town. I had to take some random guy because I hadn't been there long enough to make friends and all the people in my dorm were too square to go to a concert at a bar. So anyway, I pretty much ditched the guy as soon as I got there and stood up close to the stage for most of the concert. I knew all the lyrics, even the ones to the really old songs from independent albums, and sang along for the whole concert.

Near the end of the concert, the lead singer reached down to me and pulled me up on stage. He took his guitar off and put it around my neck and went and picked up another guitar. Then he and the other guitarist and the bassist jammed for like five minutes. I have no idea how to play the guitar, so I just danced around up there on stage with the band. When the song was over I leapt off the stage and the crowd caught me and passed me around. It was very exhilirating. I was high for like a week after that.

Oh that's cool!

I love live music, and usually I can find someone to go with me. Usually...

I have two tickets to see Matchbox Twenty a week from tomorrow - my hunny can't come out from Phoenix, my son is going away to school, and I'm having a hard time finding an escort. Sigh!

Anyway - cool story.
