Regular Member Petperson04 Posted July 23, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted July 23, 2008 (edited) How many fish were in the tank? What kinds of fish were in the tank? And what were the sizes of fish? If one fish is smaller than a goldfish's mouth, then yes, they might try to eat it. Generally, though, fish of the same size don't eat each other. Could it be that the fish jumped out of the tank, and you just never found the body? I would think you would smell that after awhile.... Regular Member lynda441 Posted July 23, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted July 23, 2008 You betcha they do. If it can fit in the fish's mouth, it is fair game for food. That's why it is suggested that, when you're breeding fish, you remove the adults to a separate tank so that the fry can survive. This isn't restricted to just goldfish. All fish will do this. Coldwater, tropical, saltwater, pets and wild fish.
