Guest Spanky_
I think you should buy it. Do you have room in your tank?
Regular Member drkslvr Posted July 20, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted July 20, 2008 you might need it, but ask yourself before you buy: do i really want to have to move *another* fish every time i go back and forth between home and my dorm?
Regular Member Goldfish7 Posted July 20, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted July 20, 2008 I should have enough room for one more goldfish in my tank. Good thing I have 2 more years before I graduate community college and go to a university.
Regular Member lynda441 Posted July 20, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted July 20, 2008 For a 55 gallon tank, you have room for 4 goldfish, so, actually, you do have room for one more. The only thing that I would say is this. I only had room for one more so I made that last one a very special one knowing that I would not be able to have any more. So, just make sure that the fish you buy is going to be PERFECT! The right breed, the right colors, the best fins, etc., because that's the last one you're going to be able to have. Make 'er count! So, I won't talk you out of it so much so as tell you to be very particular and choosy.
Regular Member Goldfish7 Posted July 21, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted July 21, 2008 I know the fish has to be "the one" in order for me to buy it. Unfortunatly the one fish that I want is a panda(coloration) oranda or telescope and I have not seen them around in any stores. I will look around and see what I can find. Thanks for your help everyone.
Guest Carebear
Well you could just buy more filtration. I am currently running 3 filters and have 2 big boys in a 20 gal.

Regular Member Goldfish7 Posted July 21, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted July 21, 2008 I have been doing water change more often and watching my water chemistry. I am still fighting with my nitrates but they have come down considerably compared to a month ago. I have 2 filters running now as well. I promise I am only going to look at the fish. (Hopefully)
Regular Member ranapipiens Posted July 21, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted July 21, 2008 This all seems to be..... the OPPOSITE of talking her out of it, lololol!!! ^.^ Oh well, once you get addicted to goldfish, it's all pretty much down hill from there... *snicker* Luckily I'm not to that point yet, I am just madly in love with the goldfish I currently have, with no real plans of getting more.

(Hopefully) With only 3 gf in a 55 gallon, why are you fighting nitrates so badly? Oh, and to get back on topic: I know... I said get it, get it, but I just thought I'd get back on topic! lol!
Regular Member Goldfish7 Posted July 21, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted July 21, 2008 I have no clue why my nitrates are not budging. They have been stuck at 20ppm for a week now but went to 15ppm and then back to 20. Everything else is fine. I love my goldfish now too but I think one more would finish the tank off nicely.
Regular Member Goldfish7 Posted July 21, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted July 21, 2008 Well, I went to a fish store today only to be very disappointed and somewhat angry. They only had Kois and Commets. The fish the had looked bad and I almost walked out with a koi because it looked like it needed a lot of help. The search for the "perfect" goldfish continues.

Regular Member Goldfish7 Posted July 21, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted July 21, 2008 Out of the tap it is 0ppm. The nitrites and ammonia are high in my tap water but are 0 in my tank.
