Regular Member PHYLAL Posted July 14, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted July 14, 2008 I am a new water garden caretaker (1000 gal.). I reside in south east Pennsylvania. I have been fighting algae all spring. Suddenly, as we are entering the hottest part of the summer, the algae is disappearing (I am not complaining). I was wondering if I finally achieved the prpper balance between plants and fish, or is this the calm before the storm? Also, will I need to begin feeding the plants in the pond now? They are still nice and green and are growing well.
Regular Member lantern567 Posted July 15, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted July 15, 2008 Same thing happened to me. Algae bloom, then it cleared up. I was hoping for the equilibrium option, but I don't know. I do have many plants including water hyacinths and water lettuce, and they've been multiplying - so maybe the additional plants are eating up the nitrates.
