Tiny Red Worms?

There not in my tank.Lol.But i found some in the natural pond down the street.There SUPER tiny red worms that squigle around in the sample of water i found when i collected a local pond snail.Now i'm just curious if there harmful,and what kind of worm/parasite they are.Any insight into this?

Hi Sue :)

I'm not a worm or pond expert.. but I was googling little red worms in ponds, and what I found most often was that they are the larvae of the midge fly - often called bloodworms. Go figure.

But that's going on description only. Maybe you can take a sample of one somewhere that deals in insects and ask them?
