Regular Member emilydelong Posted January 8, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted January 8, 2008 Is the filter supposed to be full when running? I fill mine up a little past the water line and it fills up and runs good and then about an hour later the water is about 1 1/2 inches below the water line (half full). I got it used and didn't get a user manual with it.
Guest 2 commons
with mine I also fill just a little past the water line. Turn it on and let it run for a couple of seconds then turn it off and tip it just a little to let the air out of the canister. the air should come out the intake tube and then it should run just fine. Also you need to have the output tube below the water level. Hope this helps, I've misplaced my directions, but this is what I do. Maybe someone smart person (who actually knows where the directions are) will come along with a definite answer.
Guest 2 commons
Found it online for you. http://www.marineland.com/products/manuals/magnum_manual.pdf STEP 6: START FILTER Plug power cord into a standard household polarized receptacle. Do not force plug into a non-polarized receptacle - use an adapter if necessary. Be sure to use a ?drip loop? (see ?Important Safeguards? section). Slide switch to ?ON? position; wait approximately10 seconds, then switch to ?OFF.? Aquarium water will fill Canister to the top, evacuating air through the Intake Tube. When bubbles stop, return switch back to ?ON?. If air pocket remains, ?burp? Canister according to directions in Troubleshooting Guidelines section. *air won?t evacuate from Canister? -?Burp? Canister. If air remains trapped in Canister after Start/Stopping procedure, lift Canister off motor (do not disconnect Canister Cover), hold lower than aquarium, and tilt Canister until air has evacuated. Restart. -Check to see that end of Outlet Tube and Diffuser are under water. Hope this helps.
Regular Member emilydelong Posted January 9, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted January 9, 2008 Thank you! I took it apart and had my dad put it back together and then burped it and now it has been running full but every few minutes it blows a bunch of water out into the tank and the current in my tank is stronger than it was before.
