Swim Bladder

hi,

I know my fish is having swim bladder problems, he's sometimes swimming upside down and I've seen this before. I have a 20 gallon tank with 2 fish in it (small). I change the water about once a week (about a 20% change). I have been feeding him shelled peas, but I'm not sure what else I can do to help him out. I just tested the water and the ammonia is 0 and nitrites were .25, so I did a partial water change.

Any ideas of what else can help him?

Thanks!

Stop feeding him for a few days. (3-7 depending on the fish's size)

Measure your nitrates.

Change more water - bringing the nitrates down to 5ppm or less and the nitrites to ZERO.

See if that does not help.

Make sure to watch him closely..I saved my oranda Keitaro from constipation..SBD can become bacterial i believe or come from a bacterial infection.. I used Jungle fungus tabs and had a wonderful response...
