Regular Member claire_uk Posted February 8, 2007 Regular Member Share Posted February 8, 2007 this happend at the same time last year aswel, my shubunkin starts chasing my female ryukin around, i think it got a bit heated last night, as this morning my poor ryukin is missing two scales but the water is good, so im not too worried, just hope it cools down a bit as it looked pretty rough going, and the baby thought that he would join in aswel!! my calico oranda just thought she would stay out of the way, and slept in her usual spot on top of the filter! o well looks like we are in for another rough ride this year!! does anybody else get this, and do you get worried it might get a bit too rough>? Regular Member d_golem Posted February 8, 2007 Regular Member Share Posted February 8, 2007 My males have been rowdy from about 3-4 months ago and still continuing now, although it's much better lately. Every week or so they starts chasing the females and yeah sometimes the females got bruised up quite badly I have to separate them.
Regular Member claire_uk Posted February 8, 2007 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 8, 2007 i dont really want to seperate them, but we will see how it goes. i am hoping to introduce the shubunkin in to the pond this summer as he is starting to get quite big. the ryukin female is strong, so hopefully she will be ok. i felt like saying to them this morning, it isn't even spring yet, its snowing outside!!! Regular Member d_golem Posted February 8, 2007 Regular Member Share Posted February 8, 2007 What I meant by separating is not separate tanks, just something like a floating basket so u can isolate the offending male in for a few days

Regular Member claire_uk Posted February 12, 2007 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 12, 2007 lol, just got your message. things seemed to have calmed down quite a bit in the tank now, my mum has informed me, which i have taken as a good thing. i think it could have been becuase the lights where on a lot and so the temp was quite high, and now not so much the temp has lowered a bit. and i am sure you are very generous!
