JenW 1 Posted March 29, 2007 I ended up reducing feeding to twice daily once they were .... well, I can't remember but a few months anyway because when I put them in the 50, I remember testing params and all were 0, 0, 20 and after 3 days, the nitrates climbed to 60 So I ended up having to do 3 waterchanges weekly - and that was such a punish! Just as a suggestion, I'd test a couple of times a week as they start to get bigger just to see if they start to climb a bit high..
Trinket 108 Posted March 29, 2007 I love Donnie. He has that cute little something extra going. I think its like he has struggled harder than the others to get this far and nothing nor nobody is going to stop him making it all the way to full size . All of them are so shiny and getting so big. I hope I can have the same success with fry one day
glitterfish 0 Posted March 29, 2007 Jen, thanks for the suggestion! I guess he is 3 months old so he could eat twice a day? Thanks Imogen! I really hope he makes it!

glitterfish 0 Posted April 10, 2007 Lots more pics! The cat hair is BEHIND the tank. On a sad note, Donnie is not pictured as he is due to be put to sleep next week before I leave to MN. His health is deteriorating, he has trouble swimming without going in a circle and doesnt eat.
glitterfish 0 Posted April 10, 2007 In this one you can really see the size difference among the 3.

glitterfish 0 Posted April 10, 2007 Hi Kat! The white/black lionhead is Igloo. Isnt he the cutest! I bought him and a little blue when they were barely an inch long and theyve both grown a lot. I am still doing what I can for Martin. I am not going to put him to sleep as long as he is still fighting and eating. I cant do it!!
Katalyst 0 Posted April 11, 2007 Hi Kat! The white/black lionhead is Igloo. Isnt he the cutest! I bought him and a little blue when they were barely an inch long and theyve both grown a lot. Trinket 108 Posted April 11, 2007 Your fry are toooo cute! Sorry to hear about Donnie And that Martin's still not good. You must have so much preparation to be done with all the pets and fish..can only imagine. Now what was Kat saying about smuggling some of your fish/a white lionhead over the border ?
glitterfish 0 Posted April 11, 2007 Thank you Imogen! And yes, I think Kat wants to smuggle all of my fish over the border!

OldHag 0 Posted April 12, 2007 Those pics were great. There is another one that looks a bit like Donnie, is it? Something about the back? Is it the tiniest? But s/he looks much healthier. Have you names on them? I'm so sorry about Donnie, but if he's not doing good, that is the right decision.
glitterfish 0 Posted April 12, 2007 Anette, yes the smallest has some kind of problem. I noticed the mouth is a little off... thats probably why he is the smallest. You can see his face is more round than the others. If you look back on the last set of photos, the above shot, you can see his back isnt bent. He swims fine. Im afraid for him though because of the mouth thing. Weird how out of all the fry I had that only 4 survived and 50% are deformed. I havent named them yet!
