Regular Member Rockstar Posted December 17, 2006 Regular Member Share Posted December 17, 2006 How many of you keep java moss in your betta tanks? I have a clump a little bigger than a softball in my 2.5gal and my betta absolutely loves it... I catch him head deep in it looking for food and using it as a place to take a nap. He seems to enjoy swimming through the looser strands. It also helps remove nitrates and helps things between water changes in unfiltered tanks. On top of all that it is very hardy and will grow under the worst conditions... and it looks great. Only cons are it grows like a weed and requires some 'trimming' from time to time and the loose strands can be messy.
Regular Member Hidr Posted December 17, 2006 Regular Member Share Posted December 17, 2006 I love plants in any tank. Right now only one out of five betta tanks has java moss but well have more soon as it starts to grow.
Regular Member mrbumblebee Posted December 17, 2006 Regular Member Share Posted December 17, 2006 I've just ordered some to go with some Java Fern I already have in my Betta tank and also for my Minnow tank. I'm a plant newbie, so I'm hoping it will work OK. Thanks for info
