Regular Member SusanH Posted December 17, 2006 Regular Member Share Posted December 17, 2006 Does anyone here know how to take a scraping off of a fish, examine it under a microscope, and identify what they are seeing? When Ogopogo was sick I took him to a fish store about an hour away. A guy who works there scraped him and examined what he saw under the microscope. I want to be able to do this for the health of my fish! This particular fellow has been doing this for some 30 years and I think resources to learn about this have probably changed. I don't get down there too often as it is fairly far away and was wondering if anyone could tell me some good books or websites - kind of a 101 deal? Thanks in advance
Regular Member JenW Posted December 17, 2006 Regular Member Share Posted December 17, 2006 There's some excellent sites out there - plus there's a topic started by Toothless on this very subject. Let me go find it then i'll post back When I first got my microscope, I started off by looking at things in my filter - so many crawling microscopic organisms live there but it helps to get a handle on the different magnification levels etc. I'll go hunt down this thread which will help you Found it Link
