Regular Member d_golem Posted December 1, 2006 Regular Member Share Posted December 1, 2006 If u don't wanna keep the eggs, then letting ur fish eat them is the best thing u can do. Yes they're very nutritious and should help the parents replenish some energy spent on mating.

Guest chris345
i would NEVER let them eat the eggs. You can make a profit with the eggs. Also its really mean. you should let them hatch then sell em or give em away.
Regular Member nick11380 Posted December 23, 2006 Regular Member Share Posted December 23, 2006 If I didn't want babies I would let the adults eat them. Don't think that your going to make money breeding fish on a small scale. You won't make a profit from it. It takes time and money to raise baby fish to a saleable size. If you want to breed fish and try selling them because you want to and you enjoy it. By all means go for it. But don't do it with the idea of making money. You can make some money by selling your fish but not enough to cover your cost.
Regular Member vmlola Posted December 24, 2006 Regular Member Share Posted December 24, 2006 I do let them eat them, as I know they are nutritious for the parents and also I am not set up for fry right now and would not be sucessful in taking care of them properly! But I also make sure I do a water change as I do not want my cycle being thrown off by the extra load from the egg waste!
Regular Member cometgoldielover Posted December 24, 2006 Regular Member Share Posted December 24, 2006 I would let them eat them. For me it takes far too much effort to raise them, and I probably wouldn't fbe able to find suitable home for them. And you'd need to cull them anyow, which means killing them. So I'd rather just let the parents eat the eggs.
Regular Member karla80 Posted December 24, 2006 Regular Member Share Posted December 24, 2006 Ever since the one time I saved a bunch of fry from getting eaten by their parents, I now let them eat their eggs. If I had more space, time and money I wouldn't mind raising more. karla
Regular Member Kissy Posted December 24, 2006 Regular Member Share Posted December 24, 2006 I would definately let them eat the eggs, fertilized or not. I don't have time, space, money, energy, or homes for any babies.
Regular Member viscosity2004 Posted December 25, 2006 Regular Member Share Posted December 25, 2006 The only thing I'd worry about is if some weren't caught by the fish: there's a possibility of a batch molding over.
Regular Member nick11380 Posted December 25, 2006 Regular Member Share Posted December 25, 2006 Just do a water change and siphon out the molding eggs.
Regular Member love-rabbit-fish Posted December 26, 2006 Regular Member Share Posted December 26, 2006 even though my fish never spawn, i would let the parents eat do what they do naturally, some will get eaten and some will get stuck in the plants and things.and IF any hatch, i'll raise them
