i've just found out tonight....that my blue oranda is a butterfly tail! i never noticed until i went to feed him this afternoon, because whenever he stops swimming he's tail just floats instead of droops, it's actually quite cute.

Sorry for bringing this old-ish thread up but I've never seen or heard of a butterfly oranda. Care to post a pic, tropicana? :D

well... orandas do come with unforked tails as of present... I wouldn't be surprised if a specimen somewhere had a tail conformation resembling a butterfly tail.

... although I suspect this particular case might be a false alarm. Tropicana, is your oranda's tail simply splayed horizontally but otherwise still forked?
