New Pond Owner

Hi

Been reading your forum and its great!!!

*Right.

I have a new pond which is 1wk old saturday.

Already have a waterboat man in it

It is 1,000 gallons

Two levels:

11x6 top x2 ft deep

6x4 x2ft deep bottom

Got weed also.

Laguna (for ponds up to 8000 litres)

Clearflo Clearwater pond kit

What do i need next to keep fish??

To keep them outside for the winter then you need to make it deeper. 2 ft of water will freeze completely over. Ive heard we are in for a hard winter this year but who knows. The pond should be at least three and a half to four foot deep. Unless you buy fish from an outside vat or pond then you cant add any fish until the late spring.

You dont need to worry about cycling it either.

How is the water being returned to the pond? Is it via a waterfall or is the filter right next to the pond?

If theres no fish in for the winter then you would be best to switch it off for the winter and save your leccy bill. With fish in it then try to keep it running and place a bit of polystyrene under the fall so the cold water goes over the pond rather than under it.
